At Multiliving, we will help you choose the colour scheme of your new kitchen, in line with our overall design plan. We consider a harmonious colour scheme the cornerstone of any luxury kitchen. With our broad experience designing bespoke kitchens for a variety of clients, we have the expertise to help you achieve a balanced, colourful kitchen.
Items like countertop appliances, picture frames on the walls, seat cushions, drapes, or other details like these are perfect for adding colour. Relying on smaller features to bring a pop of colour is the best way to keep things balanced while still playing with a unique colour scheme.
Adding a turquoise coffee maker or bright, sunny curtains is one thing, bold cabinets are another. Since cabinets are one of the main features of the kitchen, we usually pick the colour scheme for these very carefully. We don’t necessarily want to attract attention with cabinets, but to complement the overall colour temperature of the room. Whether they’re light, dark, neutral, or brightly coloured depends greatly on the particular kitchen design.
Cabinets aren’t the only kitchen units we rely on to create congruous colour schemes. The kitchen island, the countertops, and any furniture like tables and chairs can significantly add or detract from a compatible kitchen colour scheme. Depending on the size of the space, we can suggest either a low contrast plan (for small kitchens) or a high contrast scheme.
Finally, we consider the wall colour when designing our clients’ kitchens. Some clients choose not to repaint and would rather that we design their new kitchen installation around what they already have. Others are ready for a complete remodel! Either way, we factor paint colour into our holistic design scheme for our clients, ensuring the wall colour brightens and complements the kitchen appropriately.
As experts in designing colourful kitchens, we integrate the principles of colour theory into our schemes. Indeed, there are many ways to think about colour schemes. When it comes to your colourful kitchen, we don’t have hard and fast rules we adhere to in our designs. We take each project and each client individually, evaluating the space and the client’s preferences to determine what’s best. Sometimes, an analogous colour pattern works best. A small galley kitchen in shades of mint green would be a terrific example. For other spaces, complementary is the way to go. A U-shaped kitchen with azure backsplash and carrot-coloured light fixtures might be exactly the complementary palette a client wants.
Colour scheme options are limitless, restrained only by your creativity. With our experience in designing colourful kitchens, we can guide you toward the best way to add unique personality to your kitchen. A few of our favourite ways to add personality are with bold kitchen tiles, inventive lighting fixtures, and patterned window treatments.
Bold Kitchen Tiles – Using a bold statement colour or pattern for the splash-back tiles is an eye-catching way to lend your kitchen some character.
Inventive Lighting Fixtures – We also help our clients personalise their kitchens with interesting or downright funky lighting pieces. Lighting can have such an impact on the kitchen’s overall charm, making it sleek and refined or quirky and charming.
Textured or Patterned Window Treatments – Here at Multiliving, we’re not afraid to play around with colour and texture a bit, which is why we advise some clients to put patterned or textured curtains on their kitchen windows. Just like with splash-back tiles, bold colours and patterns can enrich a kitchen’s character tenfold. It’s important to pick only one element in the kitchen for such boldness, though. Otherwise, you’ll have an overwhelming design!
